He thinks the Room is a happy, “good” place where he can play with his Ma all day and read a total of 5 books, and get Sunday treat from “Old Nick”…the guy who comes at night with groceries and takes out the trash. He has a rough, gruel voice; he doesn't know for sure if Old Nick is real or not. Only Ma and he are real. Other kids aren’t real either, there just TV.
Jack doesn't know really who Old Nick is, or that the life he’s living is not normal. He doesn't know about his grandma, and grandpa, and uncle who have searched for his Ma with intense anticipation; but she was hidden so strategically know one could find or that Old Nick is actually a sick, demeaning kidnapper who robbed his mom of her previous life. All Jack knows is that Old Nicks abuse to Ma has gone too far and that he needs to rescue her. Will you be “scave” and help Jack be Ma’s hero?

About my book #1: Room

The first book I read in Best Sellers was Room. It was recommended by a classmate and she let me borrow the paperback version. Basically the story is about a young boy who grew up in captivity with his mom in a fenced in shed in their captors backyard. Basically all he knows is "the room" hence the title, "Room". Finally on his birthday his mom tries to tell himk the truth...that there is more to the world then just their little room. The main character Jack, the little boy is very confused on tring to decipher what is real and what is not real. Ae the fancy toys he sees on tv, real? Are other people, including other little kids, real? Jack can't wrap his head around it. But when he sees his mothers desperate longing to get out of their little "home" the only option jack knows exists is to be his Ma's hero and rescue her from her abusing captores prison.
This was a very interesting read, told from a 5 year old perspective. It teaces you to be grateful for your freedom and how lovely a mother-son relationship when you love that person whole-heartedly and care for them, and do the best you can to make them happy, depite every circumstance. This is a very good book al l though it is not one of my favorites. It brings you back to the chilling truth about so many young men and women sequested from their homes by kidnappers. I would recommend this bok, it gave me a chance to reflect and thats what a good book needs.

Post 2: What is a book?

A book is a friend. Any book you read whether you like it or not gives you a chance for creativity, an opportunity for relaxtion, and a hope to grow as a person. Reading can be an enjoyable pass time. It was around before black and white tv, after 3-D and color tv, and inspired theatre and plays and films. Without books we wouldnt have written stories to tell over and over again; to share, to laugh about, cry about, or reflect. I personally love paper backbooks. I love the quiet, relaxing, safe atmosphere a library gives, I love the smell of old or new book. I think we should try to keep regular books and libraries alive. I love being able to be in walking./biking distance of my local library and being able to sit down and read it there. Books help you gain knowledge and fight ignorane by putting yourself in a characters shoes that help you see the world through there eyes. But the vived imagery found in most books that help enhance the image you imagined in your mind, wont change if you read it from an real original book copy, or you decide to read it on your kindle or other personal device. The quality of the book depends on the words not the package in which it comes. The way the message is delivered is the same both ways for both forms of reading. It really just comes down to preference, so you can choose whichever way is most fun for you. Me personally, im old school, and i enjoy the excitement of holding a new book in my hands and laying on my bed flipping through the pages and rereading and rereading till i fall asleep. That is one of my favorite things to do.
